ASTM A514 is a low carbon quenched and tempered alloy steel that is a low-cost, high performing material for structural use and high wear machine applications. A514 steel plate meets the ASTM International standard A514. This steel plate has a yield strength of 100,000 psi
Alro SteelAlro stocks grade B, H, F & Q and pattern sizes of A514 Plate in 1/4 - 6. ASTM A-572 Grade 50 This high strength, low alloy steel plate offers an optimum combination of strength, weldability and notch toughness with economy.
Carbon and Low-alloy Steel - Carbon and Low-alloy SteelCarbon and Low-alloy High-strength Steel provide greater environmental corrosion resistance and are stronger than convention carbon steel, also very ductile, highly formable and easy to weld.Carbon and Low-alloy High-strength Steel steels are not typically made to meet a certain chemical composition, instead they are known to meet specific mechanical properties.

Machining "T1" steel? - Practical MachinistMay 01, 2010 · Machining "T1" steel? I'm in need to make a big hole- apprx. 5"- in a big block- apprx 1.5" thick- of T1 steel. I wasn't overly familiar with that spec, so a quick Google gives me either A514-T1 or T1-321/T1-360, all high-wear, abrasion-resistant steels. I don't know the precise spec for the supplied block apart from just "T1", at the moment.
Machining. After final forging/forming and Heat treatment process, all the Pipe Fittings, Flanges, Fasteners, etc. are sent for machining i.e. and preparation, O/D and I/D matching as per dimensional codes. An Expert Q.C. engineer is involved and he keeps a constant vigil on every machining operation.
Recommendations for Welding T-1 Steels WELDING Please note that highly restrained joints may require higher preheat. Also, preheat should NOT exceed 400F for thickness up to 1-1/2 or 450F for thickness over 1-1/2. Because this is a Q&T steel we also have to abide by maximum preheat and interpass temperatures and not just minimums.
Steel Plate, Floor Plate & Sheet Products - Alro SteelAlro Steel Metals Guide Steel Plate & Sheet ASTM A-514 Plate *This grade of steel may be susceptible to cracking in the heat-affected zone of welds during post-weld heat treatment (stress relief). Careful consideration should be given by competent welding engineers before stress relieving to

T-1 equivilent to ASTM A514? - Metal and Metallurgy Feb 25, 2010 · As I recall, T-1 is a US Steel trade name for a high strength low alloy (HSLA) constructional steel plate. ASTM A514 is the designation that comes to mind which includes the composition for T-1. If 514 is the correct ASTM number, there is a table of alloys within the spec and one or more of these alloys are susceptible to brittle failure if
Troublesome ium - Tips on machining this tough materialIf steel were stiff modeling clay, titanium would be frozen Silly Putty. Built-up edge, notching at the cut line, galled workpieces and chips welding to the cutter are the primary failure modes when machining this gummy material. A positive rake cutting tool with a tough substrate and hard, lubricious coating keeps tools in the game longer.
Dec 21, 2006 · If you must use the higher strength A 514 Grade Q steel plate for the end caps, I would qualify a welding procedure using the combination of A 572 and A 514 with PWHT. The selection of PWHT should be 1100 deg F, which is about 50 deg F less than the original fabrication heat treatment (min 1150 deg F) for this material.
